I think her art teacher is starting to like her more and more. I think Ivy is jealous of Melindas art project. I think Melinda gets annoyed with her parents but doesnt mind to live at home with them.
I think her teacher is starting to take a notice in all that she goes through with expressing that through her artwork, and I also think that Ivy sort of misses her old friend Melinda and she was just making small talk, either that or she just feels sorry for her. I think she feels all alone when she's home. Like she doesn't belong anywhere and nobody understands. She may not know how to deal with her parents so she becomes anti-social.
