week 4 Literary luminary

On page 70-71: When Melinda goes outside to make snow angels because it doesn't feel like Christmas, and she thinks that that is what Heather would do. I think it's strange that she tries to be like Heather, or how she's always looking at Heather for advice. I think she wants to be more like Heather because Heather is now becoming socially accepted in school.
Question: Why do you think Melinda tries to be more and more like Heather?

week 4 lit luminaty

the week before winter break, the students at milindas school are "in rebellion". Staff are letting students get away with everything and are just trying to make it threw the week. Sometimes i feel our teachers are like this at our school. Do you feel like this happens?

Week 4 Literary Luminary

Heather seems desperate. She keeps begging Melinda to make a poster. Melinda seems embarrassed with her art work, like its not good enough. She has super low confidence about it, but she still does it for Heather. She also doesn't have time for it, cause she got a modeling job thing. Do you actually think Heather is a real friend to her? Whats your opinion?

Week 4 Discussion Director

How do you think Melinda feels in general?

Do you think she really likes Heather as a friend?

How do you think she feels about David?

Discussion director week 3

what do you have in common with Melinda? What are the differences between you two? is there school similar of different from ours

Week 3 Discussion Director

What do you think her art teacher really feels about her work? Do you think Ivy really likes her project or is she just saying that to be nice? Explain how you think she feels. Do you think Melinda likes living at home? Explain why or why not.

Week 3 Literary Luminary

I feel that we should discuss more on her finding the closet. It was thought-provoking because wouldn't you think that the teachers would notice that Melinda wasn't in her classes? That puzzles me because it seems that she is also, not only invisible to the students, but also to the staff. What is your opinion on this?

Week 3 Connector

What do you think of Melindas home life?

How do you think she feels about it?

Why do you think her parents fight so much?

Week 2 connector

Why do you think Melinda told on her friends?

Do you think her friends will even forgive her?

What can she do to regain her friends trust?

Week 2 Literary Luminary

Pg.3-22 I was confused about why she didnt have any friends and why everybody hated her.                                                                                                                                                                                         Why do you think nobody liked her?

Week 2: Discussion Director

If you were Heather during the pep rally, describe what you would have done in her situation on whether or not you would defend Melinda.

Would you have attempted making a starter conversation with Rachel when Melinda had seen her in the locker room? Explain to me why or why not, and if you would, explain what you would have said.

Imagine you are Melinda, tell me what you would do if you had a friend like Heather and she was constantly trying to get you to do things you didn't have any interest in doing. Would you tell her you don't want to do it, or would you go along with it so you could have a friend? Use detail while you're explaining this to me.

Lirerary luminary

Page 4 paragraph 4 i feel bad for melinda. The basketball team threw mashed potatoes at her. I know what it feels like to be hated. She should stand up for herself. What would you do in that situation.
Page 4. Melinda first walks into the auditorium, shes all alone. She says "I am outcast." She has no friends. How do you think she feels? Why do you think shes all alone?

Literary and luminary

Page 5, 2nd paragraph. It made me kinda sad when her ex best friend said "i hate you" because i know what it feels like to lose a best friend, and have them be saying that to you.

What did you think when Rachel said that to her?

Literary Luminary

Page 12 paragraph 2
I thought this paragraph was very descriptive and by the way the art teacher was speaking about art was thought-provoking. I thought this because he described the way art is in a very unique way, and the style of how he chose his words were humorous.
Is Mr. Freeman, the art teacher, going to realize just how alone and left out Melinda is?
